Winn-Dixie No. 2472 in Tampa, Florida hosts a block party every year to bring customers, neighbors and associates together for a fun-filled evening.

Store Director Marion Orr has hosted the community block party for the last eight years. More than 500 people attended this year’s party.

“We want to let our customers know we appreciate them – by holding events like the block party, it’s a great opportunity to interact on a peer to peer level and socialize with those who shop our store,” said Orr. “It also allows us to meet new faces and introduce them to our offerings.”

The annual block party is open to the entire community. In past years, Orr and his team have partnered with community organizations for the block party, but this year he wanted to focus on giving back to his store’s customers.

“There are a lot of options when it comes to grocery shopping in Tampa, and our customers keep coming back to their neighborhood Winn-Dixie,” said Orr. “For that reason, we wanted to do something special for them.”

Event attendees enjoyed free hot dogs, chips and Chek soda, and participated in activities, including face painting, bounce houses, balloon artists and giveaways.
