BI-LO Associates from the Charleston, S.C. area kept the thousands of runners and walkers hydrated at the Komen Low Country Race for the Cure to battle breast cancer on Oct. 19.

BI-LO was once again a race sponsor, donating a truckload full of food and water provided to race participants. Buddy Banana helped cheer on the runners and walkers while BI-LO Associates from several stores distributed bananas and bottled water and other food to runners at the finish line of the 5-Kilometer (3.1 mile) run/walk at the Family Circle Cup tennis center.

“Everybody in this area knows what Susan G. Komen means to the community,” said Barbara Daniels, director of Store No. 5101 in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.“We raised a tremendous amount of money at the stores and at the event, and it meant a lot to have our associates at the race.”

BI-LO Associates also shared information about how customers can save on their gasoline purchases through fuelperks! Rewards at the family festival held after the race.
