(L-R) Heathrow Winn-Dixie Store Director Tracy Hinkle presented Crystal Lake Elementary School Principal Kristy Marshall and Backpack Program Director Susan Rutherford with a $1,000 donation to help provide weekend meals for students in need.

Winn-Dixie added more “wow” to store 2380, located in Lake Mary, Florida, and invited neighbors to check out its new look and expanded offerings during an open house event on Thursday, Jan. 29. More than 1,100 customers converged onto the store to experience the new enhancements. Customers and associates mingled and enjoyed live music as they sampled delicious food and wine tastings throughout the store.

At the beginning of the Open House, Store Director Tracy Hinkle thanked his associates for their patience and dedication during the remodel, calling the store a “shiny new nickel” for customers to enjoy.

One of the most popular surprises was complimentary loaves of bread for each attendee, sliced to their preference using the store’s signature Bizerba bread slicer. The line stretched along the cheese shop, bakery and deli as customers waited patiently to see the demonstration and choose their custom bread thickness.

The Heathrow store now features a new deli and an expanded produce department, new service meat and seafood departments, a full marble hot bar with hand-carved meats, a new wing bar and a flaming rotisserie to offer shoppers even more choices when it comes to fresh, chef-inspired meals and prepared foods to go. Fresh sushi made on site along with custom-made subs, wraps and hot sandwiches will provide shoppers with quick and delicious meal solutions.

A new cheese gallery with a dedicated cheese steward also serves as an upgrade to the store with more than 100 artisan cheeses along with a relocated wine department with more than 200 new wine selections to pair with any meal. Additionally, the store boasts a new Wine & Spirits store located just steps away with more beverage selections for the convenience of customers.

“We’re committed to our Heathrow neighbors and pride ourselves on offering our customers an even better shopping experience every time they visit,” said Eddie Garcia, regional vice president, Winn-Dixie Stores. “Customers are already expressing their excitement over the enhanced product offerings and expanded services now found at their Heathrow store. We invite area neighbors to check out the fresh changes.”

In addition to the enhanced offerings and expanded services, the Heathrow store showcases Winn-Dixie’s latest design concepts with a fresh, contemporary color palate, new tile and polished wood flooring and modern store signage inside.

The store also showed its commitment to the local community by presenting a $1,000 donation to Crystal Lake Elementary School’s Backpack Program. The funds will be used to send home weekend meals and supplies for students so they can focus on the school week ahead. Heathrow residents were asked to clean out their pantries and donate non-perishable food items at the Open House to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, which resulted in an abundance of donated meals to local hungry individuals and families. Each customer who donated food received a mystery gift card with various amounts up to $500 to purchase groceries at the store.
