As the new face of the only grocer in Key Biscayne, Florida, it’s been very important to Store Director Jose Llanes of Winn-Dixie store No. 318 to be visible to his neighbors. On June 5, he continued to build his reputation in the island community as Winn-Dixie teamed up with the local Chamber of Commerce to take part in the organization’s first-ever speed networking event.

Over the past seven months, Llanes has familiarized himself with the many longstanding relationships that have developed around his store. To help make more connections in the business community, he accepted an opportunity to provide wine for the chamber’s speed networking event, held in the same plaza where his store is located. The partnership provided Llanes with an opportunity to take part in one-on-one sessions with more than 25 local business leaders.

“I have witnessed the benefits of being connected to the business community throughout my career and look forward to being a resource at my new Key Biscayne store,” he said. “I was able to make new connections at the networking event, and I have personally seen many of the attendees shopping my store.”

Llanes spent much of the evening engaging with guests, handing out party platter brochures and inviting attendees to the store. Key Biscayne Chamber of Commerce President Kathye Susnjer said she was thrilled Llanes played an active role at the chamber’s first speed networking event.

“It was wonderful to have Jose take part in the event and witness firsthand how he has already embraced the Key Biscayne community as his own,” she said. “We are so grateful for his contributions to making our first speed networking event a success, as well as participating and becoming aninvaluable resource to our members.”

Networking participants gathered for two-minute sessions to meet and greet, as well as to share their company’s offerings.

When he wasn’t connecting with chamber members one-on-one, Llanes mingled with the crowd and gave his business card to attendees.
