More than 20,000 people were in attendance at Virginia Hylton Park in Lexington, S.C. for the 14thannual Kid’s Day of Lexington on April 26.

The yearly event is dedicated to celebrating children, while educating local families on issues of health, safety and the environment. BI-LO served as a main sponsor of the event and provided hot dogs for attendees while they enjoyed interactive activities, stage performances, fun crafts, and snapping photos with their favorite mascots, including BI-LO’s very own, Blu & Sue Berry.

“Any event with kids is guaranteed to be a blast, and the Kids Day of Lexington is definitely one of those events that we look forward to participating in each year,” said Mike Dorroh, BI-LO store no. 5442 director. Blu and Sue Berry were such a hit that the other mascots wanted their picture taken with them,” he added.

The event also offered a variety of safety tips including internet safety, fire safety, car seat checks and more. All proceeds from Kid's Day of Lexington are donated to the Nancy K. Perry Children Shelter and the Dickerson Center for Children, an organization that provides comprehensive assessment and treatment services to physically and sexually abused children from infancy through 18 years old throughout the Midlands of South Carolina.

Special thanks to Terri from BI-LO store No. 5135 and Richard from BI-LO store No. 5282 for wearing Blu and Sue Berry costumes all day!
