Winn-Dixie store No. 198 in Live Oak, Fla. joined forces with the Live Oak Fire Department and the Live Oak Police Department for the annual Toys for Sparky’s Kids.

On Nov. 15, Winn-Dixie provided supplies for a pulled pork fundraising dinner. Crew members from the LOFD and Live Oak Police Department volunteered to help cook the meat.

The fundraising dinner accumulated $3,100 for Toys for Sparky’s Kids, a local charitable organization of the Live Oak Fire Department that gives toys to needy children for Christmas. Winn-Dixie store director Terri Bell presented a $3,100 check to the organization in a ceremony in the store on Nov. 18.

“We’re thankful for our community involvement and for all those making sure our fundraiser was a huge success for Sparky’s Kids,” Bell said.

LOFD Chief Chad Croft said that no child has ever been turned away from receiving toys for Christmas. With the store’s generous contribution, Croft said more children will receive Christmas toys this year.

“Winn-Dixie has always been a huge supporter of this community and this is just one fine example of what they do for Suwannee County,” said LOPD Chief Buddy Williams.
