Winn-Dixie store No. 317 Store Director Drew Barbour joined forces with the Key West Chamber of Commerce July 16 to co-host Christmas in July, a charity event to help raise awareness, funds and unwrapped toys for Wesley House Family Services and Florida Keys Outreach Coalition. Winn-Dixie provided a Christmas feast of roasted turkeys and side dishes for 125 chamber members who raised more than $5,000 to support the cause.
Barbour, an active member of the Key West Chamber, said he was excited to have Winn-Dixie co-host the annual event for the second year in a row. After working with his team to prepare the evening’s meal in his store, Barbour helped serve event attendees before reconnecting with his business neighbors.
“This was another fantastic partnership with the Key West Chamber that connected us with the business community to uplift underprivileged families throughout Monroe County,” said Barbour. “We enjoy being active in our island community and doing our part to enrich the lives of our neighbors.”
Along with filling empty stomachs throughout the evening, Barbour provided Winn-Dixie gift cards for a friendly auction to raise extra funds for beneficiary organizations. Key West Chamber of Commerce President Robin Lockwood thanked Barbour for his unwavering support in helping to make Christmas in July a tremendous success.
“Winn-Dixie is an integral part of our community and Drew has continued to be a wonderful corporate representative and community advocate,” he said. “We enjoyed bringing our chamber members together for a great cause and Winn-Dixie showed once again they are dedicated to supporting our organization and Florida Keys residents.”
The Christmas in July event, co-hosted by Winn-Dixie, raised more than $5,000 in donations to benefit Wesley House Family Services and Florida Keys Outreach Coalition.
