Building relationships with local charitable organizations is important for Winn-Dixie No. 2433 in Tampa, Florida. Recently the store donated products to Tampa Jewish Family Services (TJFS) for their Tampa Trifecta event to go toward stocking sponsored tables with appetizers and sweet treats.
Trifecta is an annual fundraiser to help the organization’s mission to provide counseling services, food and financial assistance to more than 12,000 area residents in need.
A recipient of a Foundation grant, Winn-Dixie reached out to TJFS to strengthen the relationship and help their community efforts, and as a means to get in front of a large group of people.
“Tampa Jewish Family Services is right down the road from our store, so this was a great opportunity to get more involved in our neighborhood,” said Richard Rescigno, Winn-Dixie No. 2433 director. “This event also gave us a chance to showcase many different items throughout our store and develop connections with new clientele – to hear the wants and needs of Tampa’s Jewish community.”
As part of the fund raising, local companies sponsored tables at the event. There were 21 sponsored tables filled with food provided by Winn-Dixie, including cheese and olive tables, candy tables and a cake table, where the Winn-Dixie cake decorator sampled the famous Triple Layer Chocolate Cake and demonstrated her cake-decorating skills. TJFS raised more than $30,000 through the table sponsorships.
“We’re so grateful to the Foundation and our local Winn-Dixie store for helping with Trifecta,” said Michael Barnett, TJFS CEO. “Richard and his team really went above and beyond by helping us pick out food and giving advice on what to purchase. This was our sixth year doing the event and it was our best yet.”
