Martinez, Ga. Boys & Girls Club participants decorate cookies with help from BI-LO associates.

BI-LO store No. 5103 in Martinez, Ga., teamed up with two lovable characters and enthusiastic store associates to decorate cookies in time for Christmas at the local Boys & Girls Club.

Polly Peach and Sue Blueberry were on hand to bring the holiday spirit to life for the kids at one of the local Augusta chapters of the Boys & Girls Club. In all, 120 students from first through sixth grades were able to participate in the festivities and all got a chance to decorate their cookie whichever way they wanted.

“The students loved this activity and continue to talk about it, usually asking if they can do it again,” said Andra Syms, representative with the Boys & Girls Club. “Between the time and attention given by the team from BI-LO, the characters that livened up the party and the interesting project, the kids enjoyed a really special day.”

“We believe it’s important to support our local community with outreach to organizations year round,” said Tammy Mertins, store director at BI-LO No. 5103 in Martinez, Ga. “Truthfully I don’t know who had more fun – our associates or the kids. We will definitely be doing this again.”
