Winn-Dixie stores throughout the New Orleans region recently teamed up with the community to donate funds to local organizations. Money raised during the March community donation program was designated to six worthy nonprofits along the Gulf Coast. These partnerships proved to be very successful for Winn-Dixie and the communities stores serve.

In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, stores in District 6 teamed up with the Special Olympics Louisiana to raise an incredible amount of funds. Stores throughout the area went above and beyond register scans by organizing additional fundraising events, including cookouts, T-shirt sales and more.

"The main reason this program was so successful is because of the strong relationship the Special Olympics Louisiana has with the store leadership team and associates in the region," said Craig Oser, director of external relations for Special Olympics Louisiana. "Our collaborative efforts have allowed us to form a great partnership while maximizing store donations."

Another successful partnership was in District 4, where the team raised money for the Youth Service Bureau, an organizations that helps at-risk youth in the community. The strong partnership supported foster children throughout St. Tammany Parish.

“Working with incredible organizations, especially Special Olympics Louisiana, has been very rewarding for the stores throughout my district,” said Zach Wesson, New Orleans region District 6 director. “The sense of accomplishment that we felt when we surpassed our fundraising goal, donating nearly twice the amount we set out to raise, was overwhelmingly fulfilling for my team. The feeling was priceless.”

The other districts in the New Orleans region also worked very hard and raised a lot of funds for great organizations, including Manna Food Pantry, Mulherin Home, American Red Cross and Elevate New Orleans.
