BI-LO store No. 5011.associate Pam Bowen greets attendees at the “Taste of Home” event May 3.

BI-LO store No. 5011 participated in the local "Taste of Home" event held on May 3 at the Smokey Mountain Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin, N.C.

More than 1,300 people came out to experience a 2-hour demonstration by culinary specialists from the Taste of Home Cooking School who showed step-by-step instructions on how to create satisfying and flavorful dishes using products BI-LO donated.

BI-LO associates greeted event-goers as they entered the show, showcasing BI-LO’s everyday deals, including the opportunity to sign up for a BI-LO BONUSCARD on site. In addition, the store raffled off an Italian Dinner Basket, which featured a BI-LO reusable bag full of Southern Home rigatoni pasta, sauce, salad dressing, grated cheese and a bottle of Lisabella wine. The winner was also given a certificate to come back to the store to purchase ground beef and fresh salad items.

The store got involved with the event three years ago, but for years has made an effort to join forces with other local organizations and events.

“Franklin is a very tight-knight community that supports one another and truly appreciates the little things that BI-LO does to support local events and initiatives,” said Lisa Price, store No. 5011 assistant director. “We feel very fortunate to live here.”

Each guest left with the Taste of Home Recipe Card Collection Cookbook showcasing the recipes displayed on stage.
