Temperatures around 50 degrees made for a great day of running and marathon-watching at the world famous Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina during the annual Asheville Marathon and Half-Marathon March 15.

More than 1,400 runners from across the region took to the roads and pathways of the estate known as “America’s biggest backyard.” They ran through hardwood forests, meadows and lush gardens with extraordinary views of the Biltmore House.

This was BI-LO's second year of involvement at the popular event. On race day, BI-LO refueled runners with bagels, apples, oranges, bananas, mini MoonPies and granola bars from the newly re-launched Full Circle organic line.

The evening before the race, BI-LO associates were at the runners’ expo, where they exhibited products made in North and South Carolina. The local products recently arrived on BI-LO store shelves in Asheville and have already been a big hit with customers.

The race will become a two-day event in 2016, with the half marathon on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday.
