Drew Elkins is part of a unique family legacy that has put Winn-Dixie customers first for decades. When he was 17, Elkins began work in the Winn-Dixie dairy department. Now, more than 30 years later, Elkins oversees the Montgomery region as the Regional Vice President and continues a three-generation family tradition of service to Winn-Dixie with more than 120 combined years of service since 1954.

Elkins’ father, Bill, worked for Winn-Dixie for 58 years as a store director and district director in Anniston, Alabama; Elkins’ brother, David, currently works as the seafood department lead in Anniston; and just like his dad, Elkins’ son, Austin, now works at the Auburn, Alabama store in the dairy department.

“Winn-Dixie has been an important part of our family,” said Elkins. “I have always worked with great people and admired and learned from many great teachers in this company. My goal is to be a positive role model and leader for all those we support in the region and encourage my colleagues to do the same.”

Since beginning his career in 1984 with Winn-Dixie, Elkins has held many leadership positions within the company. Prior to being appointed as Montgomery’s regional vice president, Elkins had served as store director and in other management positions, including district director in the Tallahassee market and regional sales manager for center store. Each appointment prepared him for the next, and Elkins is proud that he decided to work for Winn-Dixie.

“I gained a lot of valuable experience beginning at ground level with Winn-Dixie and working my way up in the business, and I recognized early on the many great career opportunities within the company,” he said. “The work ethic my father instilled in our family included the reminder it doesn’t take but just a little bit to go from second to first in the class, and people notice who’s first in the class.”

Elkins attributes his success to many people, and says, “My favorite part of this position is rewarding hard work with promotions and watching people achieve their goals. One of the greatest advantages of being a leader is making a difference in people’s lives.”
