For the second consecutive year, Winn-Dixie stores across the New Orleans region teamed up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to collect money during the community donation program. Funds raised were used to send local children with muscle disease to camp.

Throughout the weeks of the community donation program, MDArepresentatives joined forces with stores in their communities to share messages about the great things the organization is doing for children with muscle disease. Many local families benefited from this impactful community initiative.

"The main reason this program is so successful is because of the strong partnership the Greater New Orleans chapter of MDAhas with store leadership and associates in the region," said April Caterella, MDAof Greater New Orleans executive director. "Our collaborative relationship allows us to maximize donations, allowing many children to take part in great experiences they look forward to every year."

This year, participating New Orleans region stores raised money to send 61 local children to camp.

MDAis the world's leading nonprofit health agency and is dedicated to finding treatments and cures for various forms of muscle disease.
