More than 20 Bi-Lo Holdings associates took part in the Mt. Acosta Classic Endurance Race May 4, either as participants or race volunteers.

The event, in which cyclists, walkers and runners repeatedly climbed and descended laps across the Acosta Bridge in downtown Jacksonville, Fla., benefited the Jared Bynum Scholarship Fund at Landon Middle School.

Bi-Lo Holdings Auditor Andrea Robinson coordinated a company team of more than 20 participants as a part of the company’s Living Well campaign. Participants received technical sport T-shirts commemorating the company’s participation.

“We wanted an event that offered different types of activities,” Robinson said. “This event presented a unique opportunity for walkers, runners and cyclists to “conquer” Mt. Acosta together.”

Regional Finance Manager Shane Fitzpatrick placed seventh in the 1-hour run (male), completing 3 laps (6.7 miles) in one hour.

Business Analyst Kara Montgomery placed third in the 3-hour bike event (female), completing 21 laps (47 miles) around the Acosta Bridge in 2:52:28.
