Winn-Dixie Store Nos. 472 and 533 in Meridian, Mississippi, won Readers’ Choice Awards, claiming first place two categories: Best Supermarket and Best Place for Produce.

Jimmie Rodgers, "the Father of Country Music," is a famed name in his birthplace of Meridian, Mississippi. But  recently residents of this charming Southern city were praising a different name: Winn-Dixie.

When local newspaper The Meridian Star held its annual Readers’ Choice Awards, the town’s two Winn-Dixie stores rose to the top two categories. Winn-Dixie store No. 533 and No. 472 shared the esteemed titles of 2015 Best Supermarket and Best Place for Produce.

Both stores attribute their first place awards to their commitment to friendly and thoughtful customer service, along with high standards on product freshness.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition. We pride ourselves on the trust we’ve earned from customers through exceptional service and top-notch produce offerings,” said Michael Posey, store director at Winn-Dixie store No. 472.

“It’s our highest priority to make sure our customers feel cared for and that our interactions are personable,” added Gene Egloff, store director at Winn-Dixie store No. 533. “Shoppers know our names, and we know theirs. Often, we’ll see customers waiting in a longer checkout line just to talk to their favorite team member.”

The two Meridian Winn-Dixie stores have been recognized with Readers’ Choice Awards for more than 10 years, competing with other grocery stores and various businesses to claim titles like Best Place to Buy Meat, Best Place to Buy Seafood and more.

“For as long as I can remember, Winn-Dixie has been winning Readers’ Choice Awards,” said Elizabeth Ryan with The Meridian Star. “Winn-Dixie is such a valued part of our community, and people love recognizing them each year when voting opens up.”
