Committed, hardworking, loyal and kind. Those words are all used to describe former Baton Rouge/Lafayette District Director Mark Boudreaux, who lost his life on March 26 in a motorcycle accident.
Throughout the company and the community, Mark was known for teamwork and for having a heart of gold. He guided his team by example, giving them motivational speeches that inspired them to work hard and to strive for the best. His passion for his job was evident in the respect he garnered from his store leadership team.
"Mark always made time for people," said Ronny Blanchard, Winn-Dixie store No. 1576 director. "Every day, he went above and beyond to help our team build upon our strengths and overcome our weaknesses. He was a caring person and a great leader."
Mark was a community fixture in the Gonzales, La. area. He worked closely with local schools and helped nonprofit organizations raise money for people and organizations in need. His warm heart and desire for helping others led him to key leadership roles in the community that he loved.
Even though Mark worked with many organizations, one particular project was very close to his heart. He was very active in supporting Project Kidz Kove, an organization raising money to construct a universally accessible play space for children of all abilities. Project Kidz Kove has been raising money for years to fund this unique concept and Mark proudly sat on the board for this project.
To honor Mark’s memory, New Orleans regional vice president Karena Niblett and other members of the Winn-Dixie leadership team honored his memory by raising money for Project Kidz Kove. Four districts in the New Orleans region are dedicating the current community donation program to Project Kidz Kove and raising money for this incredible cause.
"Mark dedicated his life to helping others and poured his heart and soul into his work at Winn-Dixie and in his community," said Karena Niblett, New Orleans regional vice president. "We are honored to work with Project Kidz Kove for our community donation program in Mark's memory."
Pam Cagnolatti, Project Kidz Kove Secretary, said the organization is very excited to participate in Winn-Dixie’s community donation program and even more thrilled to honor Mark’s legacy in the Ascension Parish community.
“Mark was a great friend to our community and a supportive board member with a big heart,” Cagnolatti said. “Mark gave so much of his time and energy for our unique park and for our kids. When the parks open, I know Mark will be smiling down from heaven.”
