Children from Hickory Tickory Tots Learning & Education Center in Laurens, South Carolina got an opportunity to learn more about theinner workings of their favorite grocery store during a recent field trip.

The kids, ages 4 to 10, stopped by BI-LO store No. 5267 and spent the afternoon with Store Director Tami Collins and her team. The group took a tour of each department and interacted with associates to understand the process of operating a grocery store, providing excellent customer service and properly displaying products for customers.

Collins said the kids loved interacting with the butchers in the meat department.

“They were enthralled with how we make hamburger meat and could have stayed for hours watching the meat go into the grinder,” she said.

Before leaving, each child got to decorate his or her own cupcake.

“It was great to see them being so involved and wanting to learn more at the end of the tour,” Collins said. “They were all very excited to go home to tell their parents how much they love their new friends at BI-LO.”
