When it comes to encouraging healthy employees, Bi-Lo Holdings’ Living Well program struck gold this year.

Because of the company’s ongoing commitment to associate health, Bi-Lo Holdings has received a First Coast Healthiest Companies Gold Level award from the Jacksonville, Fla.-based First Coast Worksite Wellness Council and the Jacksonville Mayor’s Council on Fitness and Well-Being. The councils gave Bi-Lo Holdings a silver award last year.

Every year, the award recognizes Northeast Florida companies for their efforts and best practices in creating a health and wellness corporate culture. Award judging includes reviews in six areas – senior-level support, organizational politics, “Know Your Numbers,” nutrition, physical activity and healthy behaviors. Companies are graded from “bronze” to “platinum” levels.

“We are very excited that the positive growth experienced in the Living Well program in the past year allowed us to move up to the Gold Level award,” said Sharon Clark, Living Well Manager.

The First Coast Worksite Wellness Council is part of an initiative of Healthy Jacksonville 2020. The council’s mission is to improve the health of the First Coast community by sharing resources and providing guidance through member businesses. The Mayor's Council on Fitness and Well-Being is dedicated to improving health and well-being by promoting lifelong physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
