Rock Hill, S.C. residents try some BI-LO product samples during the “Taste of Home” event Nov. 13.

A sold-out crowd enjoyed the annual “Taste of Home” at the Baxter Hood Center in Rock Hill, S.C. Nov. 13. BI-LO has been the event’s major sponsor since 2008, and this year introduced more new products to 1,000 people who paid $10 each to attend the event.

“Since we brought back Chek soda this year, we offered samples of a lot of different flavors and people really liked it,” said Tyler Urso, director of BI-LO No. 5719.

Urso, who has led BI-LO’s representation at the event for the last four years, said attendees also enjoyed Stacy’s Pita and Bagel chips, Palmetto Cheese and Dietz & Watson meats.

“We’ve seen increased sales of Chek soda and Palmetto cheese since the event,” he said. “Our sponsorship and the sampling is driving business into the store.”

BI-LO staff also took orders for holiday deli platters, poinsettias and other special holiday fare during the event.
Everyattendee received a reusable BI-LO shopping bag and BI-LO provided all of the ingredients used in cooking demonstrations by Michelle ”Red” Roberts, Senior Culinary Specialist for the Taste of Home Cooking School. Because of its sponsorship, only BI-LO had sampling opportunities inside the exhibition hall where Roberts was conducting cooking classes.
