Winn-Dixie stores throughout Alabama were recently recognized for their fundraising efforts and charitable contributions to the Glenwood Autism and Behavior Health Center in Birmingham, Ala.

Glenwood’s Junior Board of Directors held its annual fundraiser, “A Night Under the Big Top” on Feb. 22, where guests enjoyed a casino-themed party while raising important funds to help fund Glenwood’s more than 20 programs and services for children, adolescents, adults and families with autism and other behavioral health disorders.

During the event, Winn-Dixie associates presented Glenwood representatives with a check for nearly $122,000 from funds stores had raised through “Pecans for Autism.” More than 30 stores participated in the holiday program, which gave shoppers an opportunity to purchase one, two or three-pound buckets of Georgia pecans, with all sales going directly to Glenwood.

Additionally, Winn-Dixie was recognized for their contributions through Glenwood’s post-event newsletter that went out to event attendees, sponsors, volunteers, vendors and other community members, thanking Winn-Dixie for their support through the years. Winn-Dixie stores throughout Alabama have raised more than $316,000 to benefit Glenwood through “Pecans for Autism” since the program began in 2011.

“We are so thankful for Winn-Dixie’s tremendous support over the years,” the newsletter article read.
