BI-LO stores in Chattanooga, Tenn. and surrounding areas presented a check for more than $28,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga (RMHC) during a live telethon event.
Each year, the four-hour prime time telecast is hosted on the local ABC affiliate, News Channel 9, and showcases stories of local families, volunteers and businesses like BI-LO, who help to move forward the organization’s mission of serving families with critically ill and injured children.
Four local BI-LO store directors presented the check on-air to representatives of the Ronald McDonald House. The funds were raised through BI-LO’s Community Donation Program and through a grant awarded by Bi-Lo Holdings.
“As a parent, the health and safety of your children is unparalleled,” said Bill Abline, BI-LO store No. 5349 director. “The Ronald McDonald House truly serves as a support system for the families in our area and we are so proud to support their efforts.”
The Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House is a 26-bedroom facility that serves as a “home away from home” each year for approximately 500 families with critically ill or injured children undergoing inpatient and outpatient treatment at nearby Chattanooga hospitals and cancer patients being treated in Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic.
