The Victoria Park Winn-Dixie store sampled BBQ pork sliders and fresh made coleslaw during the Second Annual Smoke on the Water BBQ Feast.​

Winn-Dixie Store No. 290 sponsored the Second Annual Smoke on the Water BBQ Feast, joining community organization Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale to welcome hundreds of South Florida residents as they enjoyed delicious barbecue favorites.

Victoria Park Winn-Dixie Store Director Jessica Franiuk and Miami Region Corporate Training Chef Gabriel Sanchez were on hand to sample Winn-Dixie’s barbecue pork sliders and freshly-prepared coleslaw from the store’s prepared foods department, which received a unanimous thumbs-up from hungry attendees.

The event marked the first collaboration between Winn-Dixie and Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale, an organization committed to the events, beautificationandpromotionof downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Franiuk seized the opportunity to expand her store’s visibility in the community, while highlighting a variety of new store offerings to area residents.

“We saw so many smiles on the faces of barbecue fans who were thrilled to learn they could find these delicious offerings at their neighborhood Winn-Dixie,” she said. “We had a wonderful combination of current customers who were thrilled about our participation and potential customers who were excited to hear about our new prepared foods department.”

Along with sampling from Winn-Dixie, attendees also enjoyed live music, family entertainment, refreshments and more. Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale Event Manager Cristina Hudson says she applauds Winn-Dixie for their involvement in the Second Annual Smoke on the Water BBQ Feast.

“We couldn’t be happier that our neighborhood Winn-Dixie joined us to take part in an event our residents could enjoy,” she said. “Not only did they provide outstanding food, but they demonstrated their dedication to South Florida residents by speaking with each and every hungry event-goer.”
