December was a festive time in the Jacksonville and Greenville store support centers as associates came together for a holiday luncheon, cookie decorating, cubicle decorating and sweater contests and having their gifts for friends and loved ones wrapped to benefit charity.

Holiday Luncheon

Store Support Center associates enjoyed a free holiday lunch Dec. 17 in Greenville and Dec. 18 in Jacksonville. In Jacksonville, entertainment featured a performance from the “BOGOs” singing group, who again sang a Bi-Lo Holdings-themed version of the “12 Days of Christmas,” among other selections. Megan Whitaker of the Baypine Support Center also gave a special performance for Jacksonville Support Center associates.

Cookie Contest

At the cookie contest Dec. 16 in the Jacksonville Store Support Center, contest participants baked four dozen bite-sized cookies for event attendees – and judges – to sample. When it was over, Allison Delaney won first place for the second year for her “nutter butter cake balls;” Joe Cassano came in second place for his “Alfajores” and William Hodge placed third for his “Maple Bacon Crown Royal Muffins.”Delaney won a $100 Winn-Dixie gift card, Cassano won a $50 Winn-Dixie gift card, and Hodge won a $25 Winn-Dixie gift card.

Overly-festive sweater contest

On Dec. 20, associates at the Greenville and Jacksonville support centers dug their best “worst” sweaters from their closets and paraded their garish holiday stylings for co-workers and associates who served as overly festive sweater contest judges to see. Judges reviewed all contest submissions, including photos taken of off-site entrants in their sweaters. Greenville store support Center winners were: first place, Cathy Hudson; second place, Renee Barbare third place, Melva Bruton.Jacksonville store support winners were: first place, Janel Plitt; Tabatha Daniel. second place and Sandra Juhan, third place. Winners received $100, $50 and $25 Winn-Dixie or BI-LO gift cards for first, second and third place, respectively.

Cubicle Decorating

It was beginning to look a lot like the holidays in work areas throughout the store support centers. During the cubicle decorating contest in the Jacksonville Store Support Center Dec. 20 and in the Greenville Store Support Center Dec. 18, there was plenty of tinsel, garland and lights to go around. Teams of judges walked through the buildings to see which area was best-decorated. In the Jacksonville Store Support Center, first place went to the Internal Reporting department; second place was awarded to Accounting Research; and the Design & Construction department took third place. In Greenville, Archana Wadhivkar won first place, Jeff Green took second place and Felicia Alexander won third. Winners got $100 Winn-Dixie or BI-LO gift cards for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third.

On Dec. 19 in Jacksonville and Dec. 19 and 20 in Greenville, store support center volunteers wrapped Christmas presents in exchange for donations to the We Care Fund. The We Care Fund is a non-profit organization supporting Bi-Lo Holdings associates when they face an unexpected financial need.

Congratulations to 19 Random Winners of $50 Visa Gift Cards

Holiday recognition “elves” were hard at work in December planning ways to treat our associates this holiday season. As a special holiday gift, 19 lucky associates were randomly selected to win a $50 Visa gift card – two from each region under our BI-LO and Winn-Dixie banners, and three associates at the Bi-Lo Holdings Support Centers.
