Winn-Dixie store No. 251 in Miami, Fla. joined forces with the Boys and Girls Club of Miami-Dade Hank Kline Club for a ‘Snack-to-School’ celebration Aug. 21.

The event brought more than 200 attendees from several schools together to kick off another school year with an evening of fun at Winn-Dixie.

Store Director Eliu Cubas has worked with the nearby Hank Kline Club of the Boys and Girls Club of Miami-Dade for nearly a year, participating in several events before hosting ‘Snack-to-School’. Cubas said that welcoming his neighbors to the store was a great opportunity to reaffirm Winn-Dixie’s commitment to education in the community.

“Working with the Boys and Girls Club of Miami-Dade is a great opportunity for us to strengthen our relationship with many of our neighbors and customers,” Cubas said. “We are continuing to build awareness in the community and to remind local schools and organizations that Winn-Dixie is a great partner that our neighbors can count on.”

Event attendees turned out in droves to enjoy an evening of giveaways, samplings, a cookie-stacking contest and more. Cubas said he was thrilled when a student remembered him from a Career Day the previous school year.

Boys and Girls Club of Miami-Dade Hank Kline Club Unit Director Eddie Rodriguez said he was happy to help kick off the school year with Winn-Dixie.

“We are very thankful for Eliu and Winn-Dixie for welcoming our families into the store for an evening of fun,” he said. “The kids and their parents had a great time and it was wonderful that our partnership could help make this event a huge success.”
