Winn-Dixie Store No. 5 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., celebrated the Summer Solstice and Father’s Day with a “Beat the Heat” party June 13.

More than 250 customers filled the store for fresh fruit such as watermelon and cantaloupe, Winn-Dixie’s own chicken salad on croissants, crab bites and white chocolate macadamia cookies.

Wine Steward Barbara Tyre coordinated a variety of wine vendors to sample Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Grigio and many more. While customers enjoyed tasting featured wines and fine cheeses, they also enjoyed a live jazz duo from the University of North Florida.

“We were overwhelmed and pleased with the turnout of the ‘Beat the Heat’ event,” said Greg Vengrin, store No. 5 director. “We were happy to see our familiar faces and new ones who are excited about the new amenities coming to our store.”
