In March, Winn-Dixie store no. 1443 in Covington, La. teamed up with the Youth Service Bureau for Chef Soirée, a food and music event benefiting at-risk youth and their families in St. Tammany Parish. This year marked the 30thyear of the premier fundraising event that took place in Bogue Falaya Park on the Northshore of New Orleans.

The milestone anniversary of Chef Soirée included nearly 100 of the Northshore’s finest restaurants. Store No. 1443 participated in Chef Soirée in the past, but this was the first year the store provided food samples.

At the event, Winn-Dixie offered delicious roasted turkey breast and warm bread pudding for guests to enjoy. Many attendees visited the booth multiple times.

“We received a lot of compliments on the samples we provided,” store No. 1443 store director Ricky Carter said. “Many of our customers attended the event and seemed very excited that Winn-Dixie was involved in Chef Soirée.”

In addition to the popular food samples, Winn-Dixie was also featured as a stage sponsor, where local favorite Cajun fiddler and singer Amanda Shaw performed.

Chef Soirée is the first event in the partnership between Winn-Dixie and the Youth Service Bureau. “We are very excited to partner with a great organization that benefits so many families in our community,” said Carter. ”We look forward to establishing a long-term partnership with the Youth Service Bureau which will include participation in other programs and more events throughout the Northshore.”

Nearly 3,000 enthusiasts and community leaders gathered in the park to taste local favorites. The event’s theme was Naturally N’Awlins, named in memory of New Orleans legend Frank Davis, a great supporter of the Youth Service Bureau and Winn-Dixie.

Chef Soirée ended with a grand fireworks finale as guests left the park after an exciting evening of food and festivities.
