More than 230 members of Rutherford High School in Panama City, Florida celebrated their graduation recently, and four of those graduates were Winn-Dixie associates who achieved a grade point average of 4.0 or higher and graduated with honors.

All four of these members of the school’s class of 2015 work at Winn-Dixie store No. 436 in Lynn Haven, Florida. And the associates -- John Hunter, Damion Franklin, Wiatt Lewis and Keegan Lawley all have received large scholarship offers, and all plan to further their educations in college.

Hunter, the Valedictorian, will attend Boston University; Franklin plans to go to Florida A & M University; Lewis will attend Florida State University; and Lawley plans to go to the University of South Florida.

“All four team members are excellent at their jobs and show great concern for their job performance,” said Herman Blackshear, Winn-Dixie No. 436 director. “They are positive examples and influences on the rest of the associates.”

Keegan Lawley is the son of Barry Lawley, Winn-Dixie No. 494 director in Panama City Beach. Keegan started working at the Lynn Haven location in 2011. Blackshear said he admired Keegan’s work ethic, and when he was seeking additional help, he asked Keegan if he could recommend anyone to hire. Keegan recruited Damion in December 2014, and John and Wiatt in March 2015.

“They’re good friends and they chose to work at the Lynn Haven location, so they could be on the same team, even though it’s about a 30-minute drive from where they live,” said Blackshear. “They’re hard-working boys and push one another to be better.”
