“Queen of Kosher” Jamie Geller appeared on WJXT Channel 4’s Morning Show in Jacksonville, Fla. to show viewers her quick and delicious kosher recipes on Dec. 11, the morning of her in-store demonstration at store No. 190.

The Festival of Lights was in full swing in Florida-area Winn-Dixie stores with Chanukah celebrations featuring kosher cooking demonstrations by best-selling author and “Queen of Kosher” Jamie Geller, Chanukah-lighting events and in-store edible Menorah-making.

Chanukah was celebrated the evening of Dec. 16 through the evening of Dec. 24, and included sweet and savory meals rich in tradition and cultural symbolism. To help further connect stores to Jewish customers, Winn-Dixie and Jamie worked together to bring the sweet smells and tastes of Chanukah to their customers and associates.

Geller, who lives in Israel, was inspired by Winn-Dixie’s expansive selection of everyday kosher items and developed a free downloadable e-book filled with 20 fast and fresh recipes to help prepare any Chanukah feast. Geller continued to engage customers during a Twitter Party on Dec. 3, followed by live kosher cooking demonstrations in front of large crowds at Winn-Dixie store No. 2266 in Fern Park, Fla. on Dec. 10 and store No. 190 in Jacksonville, Fla. on Dec. 11., where Winn-Dixie was pleased to partner with the Jewish Federation of Jacksonville and the Jewish Federation of Central Florida during her visits.

After providing an interactive, step-by-step tutorial to prepare salmon latkes with green goddess dressing, doughnut holes and doughnut ice cream sandwiches, attendees also enjoyed samples of her delicious recipes and featured kosher wines. Geller greeted her fans, posed for photos and signed copies of her latest cookbook – Joy of Kosher: Fast, Fresh Family Recipes. Throughout her trip, Geller was pleased to witness the dedication Winn-Dixie has to serve the Jewish community.

Chanukah activities continued on Dec. 16 and 17 as Winn-Dixie partnered with the Chabad of South Florida to help the community celebrate Chanukah during the organization’s annual Jewish Heritage Night events. Winn-Dixie associates joined the Festival of Lights celebrations by distributing complimentary kosher black and white cookies to more than 3,000 Jewish fans at a Florida Panthers hockey game and over 6,000 basketball fans during the Miami Heat basketball game. The crowds cheered as Winn-Dixie was recognized as a proud sponsor at both events, which included celebratory Menorah lightings, special live performances, and more.

Fun with the Festival of Lights culminated on Dec. 14 as Winn-Dixie partnered with Chabad at the Beaches for an event celebrating Chanukah and highlighting Winn-Dixie’s kosher department at store No. 5 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Families enjoyed building and decorating Menorahs out of marshmallows, gum drops, icing and candy corn in the store’s new Wi-Fi Café. Attendees also received chocolate coins, enjoyed delicious kosher food samples and toured the store’s expansive kosher offerings to show how Winn-Dixie can help Jewish customers Celebrate Delicious! around their dinner tables.
