I am pleased to announce that Tim Hortonwill join Bi-Lo Holdings as vice president of grocery on Feb. 9. He will report to me.

In this role, Tim will provide strategic leadership and direction for the center store grocery departments including, dairy, frozen food, main meal grocery, direct supplier delivery (DSD) and carbonated soft drinks (CSD). He will work closely with the supply chain and procurement teams to maximize sales and profitability and ensure products are delivered to stores to meet customer’s needs.

Reporting directly to Tim are:

·        Mark Ahlstrom, grocery category director

·        Derek Frederickson, DSD/CSD category director

·        Open, dairy and frozen food category director

Tim joins us from Groupon Inc. in Chicago, where he served as divisional merchandise manager. In this role he was responsible for all merchandising strategy, procurement and execution of $200 million in annual revenue across grocery, baby, health and beauty, and other categories. Prior to that, he worked for Target Corp. where he held a number of successive roles with increasing responsibility in merchandising planning, buying and business analysis.

Tim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from the University of Indiana and is a 2013 Nestle scholarship recipient from the Cornell University Food Industry Management Program.
