Winn-Dixie store No. 5 in Ponte Vedra, Fla. celebrated the long Labor Day weekend with an event to kick off the three-day holiday with customers Aug. 29.
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, was a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is an annual national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
Nearly 150 attendees enjoyed a variety of delicious hors de overs including artesian meats and cheeses, olives, buffalo chicken tenders, pumpkin cream cake and fresh cookies from the bakery.
Customers also enjoyed a flight of fine wines including reds, whites and unique blends while they listened to live jazz from UNF Jazz Studies musicians Brannen Pfister and Aaron Lehrian.
“There was no better way to celebrate Labor Day weekend than with our customers,” said Store Director Greg Vengrin. “Our kick-off event was a great way to catch up with our regular customers and get to know new ones.”
