Winn-Dixie had a doggone good time as the presenting sponsor of the seventh Jacksonville Mutt March, held March 7 at The Jacksonville Landing.

Wagging tails and treats galore were the order of the day as more than 2,000 pet lovers and their furry friends marched throughout Downtown Jacksonville and along the Jacksonville Riverwalk. Proceeds from the event benefitted the Jacksonville Humane Society and its mission to help care and find homes for more than 6,000 homeless pets.

Winn-Dixie associates volunteered to participate in the March activities and to showcase itsOwn Brands PAWS products including treats, bones, dog and cat food as attendees took a spin at the prize wheel. Attendees also stocked up on some of their furry friends’ favorite pet items including PAWS coupons, toys and grooming supplies while educating pet owners on the quality and value of the PAWS product line. Mutt Marchers were seen filling their “wag bags” with all sorts of treats at the Winn-Dixie tent as their pets picked out their favorites.

“We are thankful to Winn-Dixie for their dedication to homeless pets,” said Denise Deisler, executive director of the Jacksonville Humane Society. “As sponsors, they provided fun giveaways and beverages to our walkers and festival-goers.”

“This event continues to be a great opportunity to meet our customers and educate them on our large variety of PAWS products,” said Mike Russell, Bi-Lo Holdings pet care category manager. “But the best part is supporting such a wonderful cause, because pets are near and dear to our customers’ hearts and are extensions of their families.”

This year’s Mutt March raised a record $110,000 in support of animals and families that the Jacksonville Humane Society serves. Attendees also enjoyed pet vendors, a canine agility show, live music, a silent auction, bounce house for children and Jacksonville Humane Society animal adoptions during the event.
