Winn-Dixie store directors and associates in Manatee County, Florida volunteered their time to thank local law enforcement by serving food to nearly 700 officers and their families at the 100 Club’s annual barbecue.

Winn-Dixie No. 2404 Store Director Laura Sturdivant has been involved with the 100 Club of Manatee County for 15 years. The club is made up of local businessmen and women whose goal is to support the county’s law enforcement officers and their families.

“It’s an honor to help the people who put their life on the line for us every day – and to support their families,” said Sturdivant. “They do so much for our neighborhoods and the county, so it’s the least we can do.”

This year, Sturdivant recruited more Winn-Dixie employees to help with the 100 Club’s barbecue. No. 660 Store Director Butch DiMonte and three associates from store No. 656 also volunteered to serve at the event. Additionally, Winn-Dixie provided cake plates, napkins, lighter fluid and rolls.

“Winn-Dixie has been very supportive to our organization, both through supplying merchandise and their time,” said Robert Ricciardo, 100 Club president. “Most who help do not have any relationship to police officers, so they participate out of the kindness of their hearts, and for that we are very grateful.”

In addition to the annual barbecue, the 100 Club recognizes officers each year with the “Officer of the Year” award and gives monetary support to families of fallen officers.
