Harveys store No. 1643 in Blountstown, Florida participated in the Calhoun County School District’s Health and Wellness Resource Fair on Aug. 7. The fair, sponsored by Florida Blue and the school district, took place at Blountstown High School.

Each year, the district invites administration, teachers and support staff to kick off the new year in a healthy way before the school year begins as part of one of many healthy initiatives.

Harveys provided healthy snacks, including apples, oranges and granola bars. About 124 teachers and administrative leaders signed up for Harveys Hometown Educational Rewards, which will earn perks for schools throughout the school year. Participants also tried their luck at winning one of 50 $5 Harveys gift cards.

Other health-inspired community businesses joined the fair, including fitness studios, nutritionist, teacher-training centers, community partners and many more.

“We all had a great time being a part of the event,” stated store director Matthew Barfield. “We gave out 358 goodie bags to the administration to kick off the school year with a healthy start, far more than we were expecting, but it was wonderful getting to know the leaders of our school system!”
