On April 26, BI-LO store No. 5153 in Charleston, S.C. celebrated a belated Earth Day with the students and families of Drayton Hall Elementary. The spring celebration welcomed families to come enjoy, food, games, prizes, bounce houses, face painting, and a special booth by BI-LO.

BI-LO participated in the day by providing samples of Cheerwine and inviting students to draw an Earth Day portrait on BI-LO brown paper bags. The portraits were displayed in the store’s checkout area for customers to enjoy.

“The students really got creative with their drawings,” said Ricky Smith, Director of BI-LO store No. 5153. “They were also very excited that their work was going to be displayed at our BI-LO store.”

Associates shared information about the new Hometown Educational Rewards Program that allows parents and supporters to link their personal BI-LO BONUSCARD to local schools to earn points the schools can redeem for free educational items.

Drayton Hall Elementary held the spring celebration to raise money to support students and teachers with expanded resources for the classroom. With Center store manager James Thomas’ assistance, the store signed up 20 parents to the program by the end of the event and the effort raised more than $3,000.
