Winn-Dixie Store Director James Bailey and his team of associates scored a touchdown with his store’s Super Bowl product display, located at store No. 2278 in Orlando, Florida.

The contest was held throughout all Southeastern Grocers banners in January before the Super Bowl, and the best in-store display was chosen recently by Southeastern Grocers Operations and Merchandising leadership based on sales, creativity and merchandising. Nearly all stores participated.

The elaborate store No. 2278 design was built over a two-week period, but it started on paper as Bailey drew his vision into a preliminary sketch. With the help from his associates and vendor partners such as Frito-Lay, Pepsi, Mars and Budweiser, Bailey saw his idea become an impressive lobby display featuring two three-dimensional football players sculpted from soda cases and beer cases. The display also featured a big screen TV, a refrigerator, cheering football fan made from PVC pipe and a (stuffed) dog enjoying items from the store deli. Customers said the display amazed them and many took photos of it as they did their grocery shopping.

Orlando Regional Vice President Eddie Garcia and District Director Tony Chandler recognized Bailey and his team for their efforts and their passion for the big game. Bailey won an all-expense paid trip for two for next year’s Super Bowl 50, which will take place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California Feb. 7. Bailey was also named the District and Regional Champion, which landed him a $1,000 HH Gregg gift card, a $300 Visa gift card, and a plaque to display for bragging rights.

“It's amazing to have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to Super Bowl 50,” said Bailey. “Our team loved getting creative and stepping outside the box for this extremely fun and rewarding contest.”

Bailey created a cheering football fan out of and chicken wire as he which is featured in the display with his dog (a stuffed animal) holding a Coca-Cola can in its mouth. The fan is also enjoying Winn-Dixie deli items from a table made from Pepsi cases.
