Associates at BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie stores throughout the seven Southeastern states they serve took time out on Thursday, Oct. 15 to pay tribute to the pharmacists who work every day to help customers maintain their health and fight illness.
For SEG pharmacists, the day kicked off with a letter from company President and CEO Ian McLeod. Pharmacists also received a letter from the pharmacy operations department, signed by operations leadership thanking them for being the face of pharmacy in BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie in their communities.
“You set a high standard of service for your patients, offering them friendly and helpful guidance,” McLeod wrote.
Over the course of the day, pharmacists were visited by representatives of other store departments, bringing them fruit and cookies from produce and bakery departments.
Created by the American Pharmacists Association, American Pharmacists Month is celebrated every October and serves as an opportunity for pharmacists to promote awareness of their profession to patients and community.
On a national scale, the American Pharmacists Month is part of an effort to educate the public, policy makers and fellow health care professionals about the role pharmacists play in managing health care costs and in providing safe and effective management of medications.
Pharmacy Vice President John Fegan said he was proud of all of the company’s pharmacy teams. The recognition they received at store level is indicative of how pharmacy is an integral part of the stores’ success.
