The Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association honored Winn-Dixie with the ‘Merchandiser of the Year’ award for the company’s efforts in selling Florida produce from local farmers.

Winn-Dixie has supported Florida agriculture for decades with a dedication to fresh, local produce. At the center of this effort is partnerships with area farms to bring customers the freshest, crispest, sweetest, juiciest fruits and vegetables grown on farms in the same areas. Some of those local farms have been featured recently on signs displayed in Winn-Dixie store produce departments to help customers make a connection between the stores and area farms.

“Our management and marketing teams have worked hard to represent our communities and become good neighbors,” said Bob Denomme, Bi-Lo Holdings vice president of produce. “This great association’s recognition of our support for local agriculture is truly meaningful to us.”

The Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association is the state's leading full-service specialty crop organization, serving Florida's grower-shipper community since 1943. FFVA represents a broad range of crops, including vegetables, citrus, tropical fruit, berries, sod, sugar cane, tree crops and more. Its mission is to enhance business and competitive environments for producing and marketing fruits, vegetables and other crops.
