Winn-Dixie store No. 2366 in Vero Beach, Florida took part in the Florida Craft Brew and Wingfest, the largest community fundraising event for the Vero Beach Sunrise Rotary Club.

Winn-Dixie Store Director and Vero Beach-native Rick Romani was on hand to represent his store, the only grocer at the annual festival, and helped raise more than $1,000 in funds through chicken wing sales to support the rotary’s community programs.

The store team showcased the store’s chicken wing bar, letting finger food lovers choose from four delicious varieties: teriyaki, ranch, buffalo, and salt and vinegar. Romani says he relished the opportunity to put his store at the center of a treasured community gathering.

“The wings seemed to be flying off the table as fast as we could put them there,” he said. “Not only were we able to engage with thousands of our neighbors, we had the opportunity build on our relationship with the Rotary Club and raise much needed funds for their community programs.”

2015 marked the first year Winn-Dixie has participated in the annual festival, an opportunity Romani got after a previous community event.

Vero Beach Sunrise Rotary Club member Arthur Hodge says he and club members are ecstatic for the support Rick and Winn-Dixie have shown the club and the community.

“Winn-Dixie has served this community for many years, so we were thrilled o have Rick be the face of his store throughout the afternoon,” he said. “It’s amazing corporate partners like Winn-Dixie that help make these events possible and allow us to continue to serve our neighbors and we couldn’t be more thankful for that.”
