Winn-Dixie No. 1406 Store Director Clayton Majeste is no stranger to community involvement. He’s known throughout New Orleans for his signature cupcake buffets, which are comprised of delicious cakes and sweet treats lavishly decorated with vibrant sprinkles and showcased at community events for children and adults to enjoy.

His most recent display of desserts was even sweeter than usual. In early October, Majeste appeared on “Good Morning New Orleans” to talk about Winn-Dixie’s involvement with a cause very near to his heart — breast cancer awareness.

He was a natural choice to represent Winn-Dixie and speak about Making Strides Against Breast Cancer -- just one week before his television appearance, Clayton’s mother lost a long battle against breast cancer. Majeste said he represented Winn-Dixie and his mother with genuine passion.

“It was hard making a television appearance just days after losing my mother, but I did it for her,” he said. “Cancer is a disease that touches everyone, and I was happy to speak about how Winn-Dixie is giving back to a great cause.”

Majeste created a breast cancer awareness-themed cupcake buffet for the show, illustrating powerful messages of survival and strength with yummy treats, pink ribbons and pink sprinkles.

Majeste, appearing on the show in partnership with the American Cancer Society, also spoke about his volunteer work with Hope Lodge in New Orleans. Every month, he visits this unique facility that provides a home away from home to cancer patients, and he leaves with a greater perspective.

“Visiting Hope Lodge and cooking for cancer patients helps me give thanks for the little things in life — my family and my health,” he said.

Majeste has recently been named a representative for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the New Orleans Lakefront. Additionally, Store No. 1406 will host fundraisers such as Cupcakes for a Cause and Pink Lemonade Stands to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
