Winn-Dixie Fleming Island Store Director Steve Brim presented a $1,000 check to Barco-Newton Family YMCA Executive Director Willie Lees and his staff to fuel the good work of the organization. After Winn-Dixie No. 103 in Fleming Island, Fla. was freshened up in a store remodeling, the store invited neighbors and associates to check out its new look and expanded offerings in a July 17 open house event. More than 2,200 people converged on the store to experience its new enhancements.

The store now features an expanded and relocated deli department, offering shoppers even more choices when it comes to fresh, chef-inspired meals and prepared foods to-go. Features include a new carving station, a fresh, custom-made sandwich station along with in-line barbecue bar, full marble hot bar, chicken wing bar, salad bar and grab-and-go olive bar provide shoppers with quick and delicious meal solutions. A new cheese shop, featuring more than 100 artisan cheeses, complements the store’s expanded wine department, which offers more than 150 wine selections to pair with any meal.

“We’re committed to our Fleming Island neighbors and pride ourselves on offering our customers an even better shopping experience every time they visit,” said Randy Rambo, regional vice president, Winn-Dixie Stores. “Customers are already expressing their excitement over the enhanced product offerings and expanded services now found at their Fleming Island store and we are thrilled to share our fresh changes with the community.”

More store enhancements include a new produce department and an expanded seafood department to offer shoppers a larger variety of fresh produce and seafood assortments. Also available are a wider selection of freshly-prepared salads, ranging from traditional salads to other varieties and new, convenient self-check-out lanes for faster service.

In addition to the enhanced offerings and expanded services, the Fleming Island store showcases Winn-Dixie’s latest design concepts, featuring a fresh, contemporary color palate, new polished wood flooring, new entrance and more modern store signage.

Fleming Island residents were asked to clean out their pantries and donate unwanted food at the Open House to benefit Feeding Northeast Florida. The Fleming Island community donated more than 5,424 pounds of food, which will supply 4,520 meals to hunger individuals and families in Clay County. Each customer who donated food received a mystery gift card with various amounts up to $500 to purchase groceries at the store.

To continue to celebrate the store’s new offerings, Winn-Dixie will also welcome neighbors for a series of upcoming events through the year, including a Beat the Heat Party, a Fall Festival and a Customer Appreciation Day with food tastings, live entertainment, giveaways and more.
