The Keep McIntosh Beautiful Oyster Roast supports the efforts of the Georgia chapter of Keep America Beautiful to maintain a clean Georgia coastline.

To support the non-profit efforts of the Georgia chapter of the Keep America Beautiful initiative, BI-LO store No. 5754 in Darien, Ga., donated 400 dessert and additional supplies on Feb. 1 for the Keep McIntosh Beautiful Oyster Roast.

The purpose of Keep McIntosh Beautiful is to preserve and protect Savannah’s coastal environment, enhancing the beauty and economic activity of McIntosh County.

In its fifth year, the Oyster Roast is the charity’s main fundraiser for the year.

“The very generous donation from the BI-LO in Darien helped offset our Oyster Roast expenses and ensured our fundraiser was successful,” said Pat Perry of Keep McIntosh Beautiful. “This kind of support allows Keep McIntosh Beautiful to carry out our mission of engaging the community in taking responsibility for improving McIntosh County through education programs, recycling events, beautification projects and litter prevention."

This year marked the first time a BI-LO has donated to the event, but it wasn’t a new partnership for Store Director Randy Blackman and many of his associates. The associates of the former Piggly Wiggly store got a chance to continue their support of the Oyster Roast after the recent transition to BI-LO.

“Our team of associates understands the importance of being a substantial part of our community and we place an emphasis on supporting our neighbors,” said Randy Blackman, store director of BI-LO store No. 5754. “The community has always taken notice and supports us in return.”
