Bi-Lo Holdings Store Support Center summer interns are working to help the company to be a ‘Real Local’ grocer in Jacksonville, Florida.

On June 23, a group of 12 interns and company Human Resources representatives teamed up with United Way and First Coast YMCA for an evening of community service.

Charitable Giving Intern TJ Pyche spearheaded the partnership to beautify YMCA’s facilities. The group made a noticeable impact on YMCA grounds by cleaning out its warehouse, opening up needed storage space for the organization.

“It was such a rewarding experience to get out in the field and put the company’s principles to practice,” said Pyche. “We will continue to reflect Bi-Lo Holdings’ care for the community through the giving of time and other resources long after our internships have ended.”

“We are excited about our summer internship program and the opportunity for our interns to gain real world experience that will benefit them as students and professionals in the years to come,” said Ryan Miller, director of Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning.A big part of that is encouraging them to make sincere connections and actively give back in the community. Volunteering at the YMCA gave them a great taste of the fulfilling work our associates do in the communities across our entire footprint.”
