ESPN’s College Gameday crew was in Clemson, S.C. Aug. 31 and Clemson University football fans throughout town were “pumped” for the first home game of the season, against the Georgia Bulldogs.
To share in the celebration and generate even more excitement, the team from BI-LO store No. 5539 in Clemson, S.C. teamed up with vendors to host a block party for fans on Aug. 30.
Customers spent the afternoon enjoying free hot dogs from Dietz & Watson, as well as grilled bratwursts and Chek soda. Clemson University Students stopped in to sample drinks at the Monster energy bar and won Chek T-shirts, while kids of all ages got their face painted.
“[It] is important for us to remind folks that we are the official grocery store of Clemson University,” said Wayne Pierce, store director. “Our associates and their families live in this community and we too share in the excitement of the Tigers football season.”
Assistant store director Lenita Diehl said the Clemson BI-LO was packed all day with fans getting last minute supplies for their tailgates and parties.
The Tigers topped the Bulldogsin an exciting, close game that lived up to the two team's top-10 rankings, with a final score of 38-35.
