On Aug. 9-10, BI-LO store No. 5547 in Black Mountain, N.C. sponsored a women’s conference in Asheville, N.C. that was designed to inspire women to live intentionally by becoming more creative, purposeful, and frugal.

BI-LO sponsored the Becoming 2013 conference by providing a cake-decorating workshop where tubes of icing and endless cakes were brought in for the women to decorate and make their own beautiful creations.

The Cake Decorating Workshop was a great success and everyone who participated in it had a blast,” said conference co-organizer Becky Burns. “Everyone thought the cakes were delicious and they were so happy that they came from BI-LO.”

The conference focused on assisting women with personal finance, meal planning, entertaining on a budget, being thrifty, home décor, and much more. The conference also featured women guest speakers like Jenny Martin, the writer behind Southern Savers, which is one of the leading frugal living websites in the South. The goals of the conference were to leave the women feeling refreshed, encouraged, empowered, and motivated with the practical and tangible ideas they received throughout the weekend.
