Customers and neighbors recognize Winn-Dixie’s dedication to the people and areas it serves when store directors are passionate about building relationships within the community.
Winn-Dixie No. 2435 Store Director Henry Falcon in Plant City, Florida makes it his mission to develop strong bonds within the community through his personal life and his work life.
Falcon is an active resident of Plant City, Florida and that drives him to immerse his Winn-Dixie store in the local community. As a board member of two organizations -- Unity in the Community and Meals on Wheels -- Falcon is dedicated to helping people through hunger relief-related causes. As a result, the Plant City Winn-Dixie hosts a number of food drives to benefit those organizations.
“At Winn-Dixie, we want to build and maintain relationships within our community,” said Falcon. “If we all give back just a little bit, it would make a huge impact on our community and make it a much better place to live.”
Not only is Falcon passionate about hunger relief, he and his Winn-Dixie associates also invest their time and resources in younger generations through school partnerships.
Recently, the Plant City Winn-Dixie store hosted a Math Night event for Trapnell Elementary. More than 100 children and parents attended the event.
“Winn-Dixie has been a wonderful partner for us the past few years,” said Alan Black, Trapnell Elementary principal. “Henry is a little bit of a Plant City icon. He’s very involved and cares a lot about his community. He’s a great ambassador for his store.”
Through his Winn-Dixie store, Falcon has developed relationships with a number of local schools and partners with up to four each year. In addition to Math Nights, the Plant City store also gives tours of the facility and explanations of the inner workings of a grocery store.
“I’m proud to have Winn-Dixie’s support of our community initiatives and involvement,” said Falcon. “They allow me to combine my personal passions with my work life and that kind of support is one of a kind.”
