January kicked off a new year of educational, fun nights at Winn-Dixie stores throughout Florida as associates welcomed students, families and school staffs to Math Night events.

On Jan. 14, the team at Winn-Dixie store No. 611 in Lutz, Fla. welcomed Lutz Elementary School to their store. Assistant Manager Cal Gore was on hand as his store hosted a PTA meeting before students got Math Night worksheets.

“Winn-Dixie’s willingness to open their doors to the PTA and to the students is incredible,” said Lutz Elementary School PTA President Michele Sissel.
Students of Dolphin Bay Elementary School in Miramar, Fla. packed into Winn-Dixie store No. 250 on Jan. 15 during the first in-store event of 2014. Store Director Henry Ledesme took the opportunity to meet and greet with parents and school staff.

“It’s events like Math Nights that make Winn-Dixie such a tremendous partner for Dolphin Bay Elementary School,” said Dolphin Bay Elementary School Assistant Principal Brad Schmidt. “The level of commitment Winn-Dixie has shown to become a part of our community is spectacular and our parents are always eager to take part of these events with their children.”

Winn-Dixie store No. 201 in Hialeah, Fla. hosted their Math Night with Palm Springs Elementary School on Jan. 22, marking the second collaboration between the partners. Store Director Mike Marquez and his team got a helping hand from Palm Springs Elementary School Principal Roxana Herrera and Assistant Principal Patricia Horta as families combed store aisles with their Math Night worksheets.

“Thanks to the great work of Mike and his team we had an incredible increase in attendance at our second Math Night,” said Herrera. “To see our students and their families with glaring smiles on their faces as they walk through the store is a fantastic testament to the connection Winn-Dixie has made at our school.”

Winn-Dixie store No. 349 in Margate, Fla. hosted a Math Night with Park Springs Elementary School Jan. 29. Store Director Rich Giordano was all smiles as he welcomed staff and families to the festivities, including Park Springs Elementary School Principal Arlene Klaasen and Assistant Principal Katie Policastro.

“It’s wonderful to see so many families enjoy an interactive learning experience at their neighborhood Winn-Dixie,” said Klaasen. “The Math Night was a great way to kick off the New Year and we look forward to many more families gatherings at our neighborhood store.”
