Englewood, Florida may be a small town, but the team at Winn-Dixie store No. 2439 always makes it a priority to be involved in the community. That is why Store Director Danielle Viele and many of her Winn-Dixie associates make it a yearly tradition to be involved in Englewood’s Pioneer Days, a weeklong celebration of the town and its history.

The Winn-Dixie team decided to take part in the most prominent part of Pioneer Days – the parade. They pushed decorated grocery carts and handed out gifts to the spectators along their route. They are very excited to be a part of such a great tradition and have the opportunity to show Winn-Dixie’s support in the community.

“We want the community to know Winn-Dixie is much more than a store,” said Viele. “We are part of the community and we want to give back every way we can.”

What Viele loves about this event is the personal involvement she and her team are able to have with the townspeople that they interact with in their store every day.

“I really want to get to know our customers and let them know that we care, because we are nothing without them,” said Viele.

In addition to the parade, Pioneer Days consists of activities ranging from boat races to pie-eating contests. This week of fun has been taking place for many years in Englewood, with this past event marking 58 years of Pioneer Days.
