To help students celebrate Valentine’s Day, several Winn-Dixie stores in Florida partnered with local schools for fun and delicious Junior Cake Decorator events. Students had the opportunity to decorate a mini cake or jumbo cupcake in festive colors to add a little extra sweetness and a personal touch to their holiday.

Winn-Dixie store no. 270 in Hialeah, Fla. partnered with Ben Sheppard Elementary School on Feb. 12 as Bakery Manager Raquel Lopez guided 200 students through the decorating process.

“We enjoyed having Winn-Dixie visit Ben Sheppard Elementary to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the Junior Cake Decorator Program,” said Ben Sheppard Elementary School Principal Eduardo Tagle. “The kids had a wonderful time decorating their holiday treats and creating something extra sweet and personal for a loved one.”

Pembroke Pines Elementary School opened its doors to Winn-Dixie store no. 209 on Feb. 13. Pembroke Pines Elementary School Principal April Schentrup welcomed Store Director Juan Cruz and associates Migdalys Rojas, Nick Gutierrez and Mirna Gutierrez, who assisted more than 350 students in decorating their holiday sweets.

“We were thrilled to welcome Winn-Dixie for the Junior Cake Decorator event to celebrate the joy of Valentine’s Day,” said Schentrup. “Hundreds of parents will have a smile on their face knowing Winn-Dixie helped their child make a special treat just for them.”

Winn-Dixie store no. 745 Store Director Tomas Crider’s partnership with G. Weaver Hipps Elementary School shined on Feb. 14, setting a new sales record for Junior Cake Decorator events. Principal Angela Nader welcomed Winn-Dixie associates to the Lehigh Acres, Fla. elementary school to help more than 440 students top their cakes and jumbo cupcakes in festive décor.

“Our students always look forward to Winn-Dixie activities, and they especially enjoyed decorating their own personal treats,” said Nader. “We can’t thank Winn-Dixie enough for helping our students celebrate a very happy Valentine’s Day.”
