In its September edition, South Magazineannounced Sylvania, Ga. BI-LO Store No. 5431 Deli and Bakery Manager Candace Lanasa has been voted one of the greatest bosses in the Southeast.

South Magazineis an award-winning publication specializing in telling the story of individuals living and working in the South. The bi-monthly publication, based in Savannah, Ga., covers dining out, events and entertainment, as well as Southern culture and personalities.

The winners of the South’s first annual Greatest Bosses contest were voted on by their employees and readers of the magazine and are testaments to the power of excellent leadership.

In addition to being a boss and Deli and Bakery Manager, Lanasa is also a mother of two children. She told South Magazine one of her toughest challenges as a manager is scheduling her employees and making sure that everyone has enough time to spend with their families.

When asked what it takes to be a great boss, she said, “I think it takes a lot of compassion and being able to relate to your employees, being able to get along with theim. It’s being able to understand your employees and know what their needs are.”

Lanasa says that she is thankful for the support of her employees and feels honored to have been chosen as one of the greastest bosses and to be featured with four other outstanding individuals.

“I will always be thankful for the support, encouragement, challenges, constuctive criticism, and teaching that BI-LO has given me,” she said.
